How far does exhaust from a window A/C travel?

We live in a condo and have window A/C units. The people who live above us claim that the exhaust from the window unit is problematic to them. They do not have windows open around where our unit is, so I don't understand how the exhaust could be a problem for them. Just how much exhaust exits these units and could it be causing them a problem, or are they just complaining over nothing (they've complained over nothing before, but if this is truly a problem, I'd like to try to find a solution that works for all)? Our window unit is very new (bought last month) and has a high energy rating (9.8 out of 10, I think), if that matters.
