Why would a Judge continue a court case of DUI & felony's?

-----, 48, 400 block of Pierce Street, Aurora, was charged Aug. 15 with two counts of drunken driving - in Aurora and Montgomery - and leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and felony criminal damage to property. An investigation determined----- was arrested on a DUI charge by Montgomery Police earlier in the evening. His vehicle was towed to a business in the 700 block of North Highland. After posting bond in Montgomery, ----- allegedly went to the tow yard around 4 a.m, climbed a security fence and drove his vehicle through the fence causing about $1,000 in damage. Aurora Police then charged ---- with a second DUI, felony criminal damage to property and leaving the scene of an accident. He was also charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident in connection with the hit and run on Broadway, Aurora police said.
