What is the Average Age for Stroke and Heart Attack? Please Answer, Thx?
There is some evidence that Americans are suffering early onset of coronary artery disease, almost certainly brought on by a high-fat diet of "junk food" and burgers. I was a Medic in Vietnam, and we occasionally saw advanced coronary artery disease (CAD) in 19 or 20 year soldiers who had been killed from other causes. The CAD can also indicate vascular disease in other parts of the body as well, including the brain. This does NOT necessarily mean that you're going to have a heart attack or stroke at the tender age of 24, but it DOES mean that young people need to eat more wisely, refrain from smoking cigarettes, eating fatty foods, and watch their weight, all risk factors for developing CAD or clogging other arteries. Statistics don't mean very much because they merely reflect an overall average. If one person dies at age 100, and another person dies at childbirth, then statistically the average age would be 50. But you are not a statistic. You are an individual. You can reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke by eating a sensible diet, eliminating saturated fats, keep your weight under control, DON'T SMOKE, and doing all the other things you read about so frequently in magazine articles advising you how to avoid health problems. Regular checkups are also important. If you have a good, thorough physical now, and nothing unusual or threatening shows up, then you should plan to have another thorough physical around age 40, and then every year or two after that. You should catch life-threatening problems while they are still small and manageable if you do that, and there is no reason why you can't live to a ripe old age.
