How to make devil's food cake from sponge cake mix?

I want to use my chocolate sponge cake mix, but I want to make it into a devil's food cake. What adjustments do I need to make? I actually have all the ingredients to make it from scratch, but I really want to use the mix because it's been sitting in my pantry for a long time. Thanks in advance!
